Elizabeth comes to a halt as well when her fellow Vampire ceases his progress. She turns to face him, grinning happily and shrugging her shoulders, “I dunno, I’ve been told I am a very likable person, Vampire or not, and I had a really great teacher that didn’t let me become one of those gluttonous Vamps that want nothing more than to fill themselves until they burst with the blood of every human that crosses their path and wreak havoc on the world purely for the sake of entertainment; Deus was a good man and an excellent Maker…. But then, I’ve always been like this, I like to make people feel good… To be the person they can turn to, because it makes me happy to know the people around me are happy.”
Her head tilts to the side, soft green tendrils falling in front of her eyes, and the smile on her china doll face widening, “you know, you can stay with me if you’d like…. I have an extra bedroom with a comfy bed and curtains that keep the sun out during the day. There’s plenty of blood in the fridge, not as tasty as the stuff you get at Soul Haven, but it keeps the hunger at bay; pigs blood. You could probably use a good night’s sleep and my doors always open to those in need… That is, as long as you promise not to kill me in my sleep.”
She laughs melodically and places her hand on Kain’s shoulder, gently ushering him forward, “in fact, I won’t take no for an answer. At least for tonight, you’re staying with me. I won’t knowingly send you on your way to sleep in a ditch in central park, you’re not an animal and I won’t have that weighing on my conscience; it’ll keep me up all night.”

"You're Maker seems to be a much better Vampire than mine. I can't wait to see him again, to tear his head off. If he is the only one I kill, than I will be happy when I meet the sun."
Kain grumbles as he is ushered into the home, much against his will.
"What makes you think I won't? You're rather trusting of a vampire who has talked about genocide. I'm not sure if you're brave or extremely stupid. Besides, I'm not a charity case. I've survived these last few months as a vampire by myself, I will be just fine now."
Knightlord forces away from the inviting ushering of Lizz and heads towards the door.
"You can have this on your conscious all you want. I could careless. I don't want a handout from someone like you."

Liz follows after Kain, a solemn expression on her face as she once again thinks of her beloved Maker,“yes, Amadeus was a wonderful Maker, it’s too bad there aren’t more people out there like him... Maybe we can work together to find your Sire and what you do with him once we find him is up to you. You know, Soul Haven has an impressively accurate list of all of the Non-human’s residing in New York.”
She wraps her slender digits around his wrist and tugs him lightly around to face her, “if you really want to leave, I won’t stop you, but is that really what you want? Don’t you think a good night’s sleep and a full belly will better your chances out there? Just one night and you’ll never have to see this disgusting leeches face again.”
Elizabeth releases her grasp and her emerald orbs dart from the door to her new friend, “I trust you, because I really do believe that there is a kind person somewhere within you. I like to see the best in people, until they prove me wrong, and I may look weak… But I can hold my own. I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve and I have had many years to hone my skills. If it really came down to it, you wouldn’t be able to take my life as easily as you might think.”
The female Vampire swallows hard, "and I don't really want to be alone tonight... Please... Please stay with me."

"I'm going with extremely stupid."
Kain tries to leave, but the grip on his wrist kept him from leaving. He listens to her talk about her sire fondly.
"Maybe one day I can meet him. Unfortunately I don't know the name of my sire. It was a sudden attack, all I know is what he looks like. He may not even be in New York anymore."
His more demonic features rear their head again, as Kain remembers that night. The hatred boiling underneath. He looks into her eyes as Lizz reminds him of what he said at Safe Haven.
"You're not a disgusting leech. You're one of the better Vampires I've met since I truly began to see what this life was like. I have not met a "good" vampire since I lived this life. I either got wary eyes, hateful eyes, or disgust at the fact that I existed in this life. ="
Knightlord looks at the grip on his arm, slowly pulls his arm away as she releases him. He turns towards the door, resting his hand on the handle. Kain takes a moment to think of the kindness he truly sought, and is thinking about rejecting when he hears her plea, asking to not be left alone.
"Of everyone at Soul Haven you could have asked to spend the night with. The men and women who you had entranced with the way you moved tonight... Why'd you choose the disgruntled, young, genocidal vampire? The one who talked about killing you. Why?"

The lonely dancer watches him linger at the door, his hand hovering over the knob, and Beth's lip quivers uncontrollably at the possibility of being alone; abandoned. Too many memories have resurfaced since she encountered this young Vampire and an unbearable need for companionship gnaws at her stomach. Oh Deus, why can’t you be here now… You were always so much better at this than I ever could be. God how I miss you. She shakes her head, smiling weakly, and brushing a fresh batch of tears away from her emerald orbs. Elizabeth subdues her emotions, taking a deep breath and speaking smoothly, “it’s not as if I am asking you to sleep with me, I’m just asking you to sleep in the room next to mine, so that I don’t feel alone tonight. And as to why I would want to befriend you… firstly, you made yourself fairly hard to ignore from the get go and you’re different from the rest… I dance because I love it and I’m good at it, I don’t actually want anything to do with those lustful creatures in Soul Haven that devour me with their eyes. There’s innate good within you, I can sense it, and I feel safe when I am with you; maybe you’re right… Maybe I am stupid. Perhaps you will kill me tonight, but then…. If you were this ultimate evil you speak of then you would take advantage of the situation and I wouldn’t have to fight you to get you to stay. You’d play nice, wait until I pass out and stake me… Or behead me…. Or maybe shove a silver blade through my heart… Though I hear The Inquisition tortures you before giving you the true death, gathering information to gain access to more Non-Humans. Instead… You want to run, is it because you’re afraid of what you might do if you stay? What you might learn?”
She takes a step forward and rests her hand on Kain’s shoulder, finally allowing the sadness welling up inside of her to burst from her eyes in lipid falls down her cheeks. Beth swallows hard and fights to keep her voice from trembling, “he was killed…. The anniversary of his death is only a few months away… I loved him. You… Remind me so much of me back then. Maybe we were brought together to help each other and I understand that you don’t believe that you need my help, but I need yours… Because we all have a bit of darkness and sometimes it can be hard to let a grudge go.”
“If you believe I am a good Vampire, then trust me… Because I trust you.”

"OK. You win. I will stay. Perhaps we can help each other. You're right. I'm not as evil as I may act. I still hate my sire, and feel that hunting him could be dangerous."
Kain listens to her story of Amadeus. A somber feeling hits Kain, as he recognizes the look on her face. The same he had that night. He extends his arms around Beth.
"I'm... I'm sorry to hear about your Maker. I'm not too sure how I remind you of him. You describe a compassionate vampire, who cared for the lives he ruined. I'm far from compassionate, though not as dark as I tried to portray. I will stay here the night. I hope you forgive me, and you are welcome to help me as you please just as I will help you."

She smiles weakly, blinking the last few tears from her eyes, "it's okay... some people might argue I've had plenty of time to move past this. You remind me of... Myself... When before he calmed my soul," she ponders this momentarily, wondering what were the implications of that association, could there be a terrible end for her in the near future, "but enough of that!"
"YAY!" She suddenly pushes through the darkness that had been gathering in her mind like thunder clouds and lets happiness shine upon her face. She separates from her friend, leaps into the air exuberantly and then wraps her arms around Kain again, "thank you."
Elizabeth nuzzles into Kain's neck and sighs happily, "I am so grateful to have met you, I think this will be really good for both of us. Who knows, maybe I can even get you to apologize to Adalrich, maybe we can get you a job at Soul Haven!! Oh! I'm sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself... Oh my! Oh NO! Addie! I forgot to text him, he's probably worried sick!"
She breaks free from their embrace and reaches into her purse, producing a slender teal colored cell phone. Her fingers move in a blur across the smooth screen and she deposits it back into her bag, "that should do it. He really is a sweet man, a little too flamboyant at times, but very kind. He really wasn't trying to offend you."
Beth loops her arm around his and tugs him toward the kitchen, "now, lets get something to eat and watch scary movies until we pass out; that would make my night!"

"You are getting ahead of yourself. You're the only one so far I want to be around in our world. I can do well without the others. I don't know what you were expecting of me when I agreed to stay, but you're jumping to conclusions."
Kain pushes past Elizabeth and sits on the edge of the couch, and looks at her.
"I told you, I'm not interested in a hand out. I will stay here for the day, but come sunset I'm out. I don't want to work at Soul Haven. I don't want to apologize to Addie, as you call him. Quite frankly, I didn't do anything to him besides break a glass. If he had a problem with free speech, I could easily solve that issue for him."
Knightlord pulls out a switchblade he had in his pocket, hinting at what he meant.
"You are a different kind of vampire, I can admit that. I appreciate what you're doing, but I'm more interested in answers than I am to eat and watch horror movies that pale in comparison to reality. Once I have my answers, I will sleep and be out of your hair."
Kain, clearly showing he has gotten defensive again after Elizabeth's sudden outburst of joy about him staying, places the knife back in his pocket and leans back, running his hand through his short blonde hair.
"What did you mean by "The Inquisition are not the nicest of people"? I know that they're out to kill people like us. But so am I, to an extent. So their plan doesn't sound so horrible to me."

Elizabeth pulls away, seeing the anger and resentment flaring up in the dark Vampire’s eyes and demeanor again. She places her hands in her lap, her fingers twiddling nervously, and her emerald orbs gazing at them in an attempt to divert her gaze from Kain. Swallowing hard, images of her beloved’s mangled body on the floor of the living room of the apartment they shared, “You remember… When you said that Amadeus sounded like he was a good Maker?... The difference between you and The Inquisition is… You can discern the difference between good and evil. They killed Deus and they would have killed me too, if I had been there…”
A fresh batch of lipid tears escapes from her vibrant eyes, she pushes herself off of the couch and walks over to the window of the apartment. Would I have been able to save him, if I had been there, would things have turned out different? Beth grips the fabric of the curtains, pulling them to the side and peering out the window forlornly, “we hadn’t done anything wrong… He drank pigs blood and hadn't ever taken a life, he’s the one that showed me that I didn’t have to kill to survive, but they killed him anyway… Because of what he was… Not who he was.”
With a heavy sigh Elizabeth turns around to gaze upon her guest again, “you can leave whenever you want… I won’t keep you here. I would be happy to help you, to share any useful knowledge I might have with you, but I can’t help you if you don’t want to be helped.

"How do you know he didn't do anything? He could have done a lot before you met him. You like to make assumptions. He never took a live, but here you are, a vampire stolen away from your loved ones because one of mans selfish desire. There is more than one way to take someones life, not all of them involve death. We're all monsters that sit on the precipice. Some, like my Maker, seem to do it for fun."
Kain takes a moment to collect himself. Despite him saying she wasn't like the others he had met, he continues to treat her badly even though she has done nothing to him. Kain stands to his feet and walks over to Lizz.
"I'm... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that. It's just... You've been nice, and I've been alone for a long time now. I just... I don't want to be a burden. But I really would like your help. You keep saying you're an old Vampire, at least older than I am. Maybe if I tell you what happened that night I was turned, you might now who it is that did this to me."
Kain walks away, and leans by the door post. He closes his eyes to try and remember every little detail of his fateful night. Not like it was hard, it was only six months ago and he has sifted through every detail that night thousands of times.
"It was a dark night. I had just dropped my date off at him, and was walking by this dark alleyway. I heard a scream come from the darkest reaches of it. Everything in me told me to just run away. We do live in New York after all. But I just felt this compulsion to go and look. When I got there, I saw this young girl, impaled by a fire escape ladder, a part of her neck missing like a wolf tore it off. When I turned around, everything went dark. The last thing I remember seeing was this giant bat swoop down. When I woke up the next night, I was in a dumpster, thirsting for blood... I think you can fill out what happened next."

"I know because that’s what he told me, I didn’t make assumptions, I trust what people tell me… I think if one of us is more guilty of judging things before gaining knowledge on the subject, it would be you. You are allowed to have your own opinion, but so am I. You can think poorly of my Maker, but do not speak badly of him in front of me. If that’s the way you’re going to behave you may leave now, that is one thing I will not tolerate.”
She crosses her arms over her chest and prepares to shut down, resigned to accepting Kain’s refusal to befriend her or even interact amiably. However, she immediately softens upon hearing his apology, “It’s okay… I understand… Just… Keep in mind that a person can only take so much of a verbal beating before they decide to let you have it your way… whether that’s what you really want or not.”
She takes a seat upon the couch again, “yes, I am fairly old… a little over a thousand years. I can do my best, I have met many people of our race over the years and heard many stories…” Elizabeth rests her chin on her hand and listens carefully as he describes his experience, her face contorting in varying degrees of emotion as his story unfolds. A giant bat… she thinks to herself in horror with nausea swirling in her innards, she swallows as a flood of saliva fills her mouth, and her skin takes on a ghostly hue, “you say… you saw a giant bat... A giant bat is what you saw……. It can’t be… Dear god it can’t be.”
She pushes herself off of the couch and goes to her room, “I have to call Adalrich, I have to see if he’s heard anything… This just can’t be happening… If any Vampires have been disappearing... I thought he was a myth... or dead…. It's not possible.”

"Elizabeth, what are you talking about?"
Kain follows Lizz towards her bedroom, startled by the fear that seems to have gripped the cheerful vampire.
"Yeah, I saw a giant bat right before I became a vampire. Lizz, care to tell me what is going on? What exactly can Adalrich do about any of this? Lizz, who is a myth? I've seen some pretty messed up things before, even more so now I'm one of you. How bad can this possibly be? I thought all vampires did this sort of thing."
Knightlord runs his hand through his hair, concerned that what he thought might now have been a big deal, might just be that. What have I gotten myself into? Why is she so frightened by such a simple story?
"Lizz, talk to me. I want to know what is going on. Am I in danger? Are we in danger?"

“I’m talking about how we’re all going to fucking die if what you’re saying is true!! Are you sure of what you saw, you’re not fucking with me right?!?” She grabs a hold of Kain’s shoulders and shakes them violently, the younger Vampire finally getting a bit of a feel for the voluptuous dancer’s strength, “this is serious Kain! You have to be sure!”
“FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!” the usually sweet and articulate Vampire reverts to a panicked state as her companion confirms the information he provided. Her fingers slide up her temples, ensnaring in the roots of her vibrant green locks, and she proceed to yank at her hair, “I shouldn’t have had you come home with me… If he sees me with you… If he’s tracking you and... Just wait a moment.”
She releases her hold on her emerald tresses and plops down on her four post bed. The female Vampire wraps her clammy digits around the receiver of the phone on her bedside table, dialing Adalrich’s number in a blur and growling in frustration when he doesn’t answer the phone, “Hey Addie, I’ve got some VERY IMPORTANT information for you to share with the den master… You remember that Vamp I took home with me… He said… The creature that turned him… Was a giant bat. Get back to me ASAP Adalrich, this is serious shit.. And not just for The Kindred… But all of New York.”
She places the phone back down on the receiver and returns her attention to Kain, somewhat calmer, having initiated contact with The Kindred, “Adalrich is… Important… That’s all you need to know for now. I trust you, but I don’t want to give you too much information… In case he gets a hold of you... and tries to find out where and who The Kindred are. It’s really bad Kain… Really really bad. I honestly don’t know what to do for you… You should consider joining my people now more than ever, at least then you'll have an army at your back... You'll need an army and then some if you honestly plan on facing him.”
She pats her hand on the bed beside her, coxing the younger Vampire to take a seat, “We’re... you... All of us are in serious danger. If what you’re telling me is true… You’re maker is… Vikrcop Coffinterror. He’s special, one of the first of our kind… Pure evil… And he feeds and kills whatever he pleases, including Vampires.”

"Lizz, you're not making any sense right now. You're telling me to leave for your own safety, says this... Vikrcop Coffinterror is the one who turned me... That I need an army. You're not telling me a lot, then asking me to trust you? Kindred... Inquisition... Coffinterror... Den masters... Elizabeth, I'm not sure how long you think I've been a vampire, but I've only been in this world for a few months. I barely have my bloodlust under control, and even on a good day I can't keep total control."
Kain walks over to join Lizz on the bed. He reaches into his pocket, grabbing at his knife once again. I know something is going on. Her fear is telling me that Vikrcop is a serious threat. But what does she want me to do?
"Lizzie. I'm not interested in joining some group to protect myself. I've been alone for the last few months since I became a vampire, revenge being the only thought that has kept me from killing myself. So until you give me some answers, I can't trust you on whatever this Coffinterror guy is like. If he is this giant bat that turned me into a vampire, than I'll go out and kill him. To me, that doesn't sound to..."
The last part of what Elizabeth had to say. He kills other vampires?
"What do you mean he kills other vampires? Who... or... What is Vikrcop Coffinterror? How does it involve me? And why would I need an army?"

“I know, I know, my brain is all jumbled and I can’t think straight. I'm.. honestly.. I am terrified. I don’t want you to leave, I’m even more worried about you now then I was before…” She places her hand on his lap and unbeknownst to her, his knife, “I couldn’t possibly live with myself if I found out that something happened to you after leaving here. And it’s too late now, if he finds you and makes you talk… He’ll come for me, he'll destroy The Kindred and probably the world... Just for laughs.”
Elizabeth swallows another flood of saliva, the prospect of being hunted by The Bat causing her entrails to twist and roll unbearably. Her hand slides off of Kain's thigh and she clutches her chest, steadying her breathing, “You're right... I'll be honest with you. Soul Haven isn’t just a club Kain, Adalrich lets The Kindred use it as a headquarters as well… And I know you’re an extremely young Vampire, I can smell it on you, why do you think I’ve been trying to shove blood down your gullet? And that’s why I approached you in the first place, because I knew you were young and angry and thought I could help you get through this phase of your life smoothly. Although… it seems fate has other things in store for our journey together.”
“Coffinterror is a hybrid… A Vampire… But more… He can transform into a bat, which is why most know him as The Bat, and I mean he KILLS other Vampires… Non-Humans… Whatever tickles his fancy at the time, whatever unlucky soul happens to wander across his path. And you,” she pokes him firmly in the shoulder,"are his. He can find you, whenever he wants and some day he might decide to play with his creation. Perhaps he'll ask you about your experiences and the Non-humans you've come to know... Perhaps you'll be able to hold off for a bit, but he'll get what he wants from you and when he's finished he'll kill you or maybe kill The Kindred, have you watch and see what you've done and then kill you. I honestly don't know, I couldn't possibly hope to comprehend the way that Vikrcop thinks."
The green haired beauty pushes herself off of the couch, “I need you to trust me, because I care about you, and I need you to come with me to Soul Haven.”
