Sample RP: It is well past midnight on the residential road in Portland Oregon and the tantalizing melody of classical music trickles from an open kitchen window. Whimsical puffs of white cascade to the pillowy snow covered ground below. It's an eerily quiet night, even the sound of cars passing by seems muffled and a foreboding feeling permeates the air. Their neighbors have long since retired for the evening and only the lights of the last house on the left remain on.
From the view of the sidewalk one can easily spy through the kitchen window and gaze upon the three family members grouped around the island counter. Mother, father and daughter; a cupcake before the youth with a brilliant number ten candle atop its center. The parents are dressed in all black, like a pair of secret agents, and their little girl is beaming at them as if they can do no wrong. It is such a young and beautiful family, full of life and love. The parents are currently wowing their starry eyed child with an exhilarating tale of a daring rescue and the slaying of a terrible monster.
They don’t even notice the man in black outside of their window, the menacing creature with paper white flesh and horrifying sharky teeth, watching them since the parents first arrived home. He is a nightmare that will forever be burned into that adorable little girl's memory.
Everything happens so suddenly, as if he spontaneously materializes behind her mother, and front row seats give Abigail an agonizingly spectacular view of his knife like teeth as they burrow into her succulent skin. Mama yowls in anguish; Abby’s body goes cold, her mouth drops open, and silent tears etch their way down her rosy cheeks. The small girl can’t move or make a sound as the devil’s smiling eyes meet hers whilst he drains the life from her mother. Father shouts something inaudible to the little girl in shock and he lurches for the abomination devouring his wife. The vampire moves with lightening speed, grasping her papa’s skull and twisting effortlessly, a sickening crack reverberating in her ears. Abigail’s father falls limply to the floor, dead, and she finally finds her voice.
“Papaa!!!” Her hands reach out to her his body sprawled out on the ground, in that moment her survival instinct kicks into gear, and she can finally feel her limbs again. The little cherub jumps from her seat at the island and darts for the back door. She runs desperately to her neighbor’s house, her bare feet protesting all the while, and she slams her hands against the red painted wood over and over.
Finally, the door swings open and her mother stands on the other side, surrounded by a darkness that seems to pull inward with invisible hands. The once gorgeous woman is wrapped in a thin white night gown and is drenched in crimson liquid. Abigail drinks in the sight before her, eyes focused on the tremendous open wound gushing blood on her mama’s slender neck. The ghostly figure's porcelain limb reaches forward and sticky blood coated fingers graze Abby’s cheek.
“Mommy!!!!” Abigail lunges toward her mother, arms open wide and tears flowing.
Thump! Her head smashing into the floor jolts Ms. Mason awake, her face is still wet with tears, and she wipes them away without a sound. The Crusader pushes herself upright and thinks bitterly, I'll find you, Vampire.
