Megan Bloom "Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen." The end of a lit stick bounces from one head of a candle to another, placing flames upon their wicks like dancers on a stage and illuminating the alter of the church. A freckled angel in a blue habit draws her torch up to her lips and blows it out in one swift release of air. She deposits the used twig with the others in a bin beside the alter, fingers then moving in the shape of a cross over her heart before places her hands together in front of her and bowing her head one last time. The Inquisition member sighs heavily, turns on her heels, and takes a seat in the pews. It is well past midnight, the room smells of melted wax and their gentle warmth caresses her face. Bloom gazes about her, a whimsical smile gracing her features as her baby blues inspect the familiar architecture of the old building, finding comfort in the absence of others. Megan craved these moments alone, for inner reflection and a chance to speak to the Lord without any outside forces to distract her attention. The redhead closes her eyes, bowing her head, and folding her hands in her lap. Lord, protect Shadow and forgive him of his imperfections, he truly is a wonderful man with only the desire to fulfill your will in his heart. Give us your power so that we might smite the monsters that have come to inhabit this land; the demons that walk the earth.
Is this truly God’s will? Her eye brows furrow at her inner question, a question she had never asked herself before. Could it be that the events at Coney the other night have faltered my confidence? Oh Lord, give me a sign, a sign that I am on the right path! She stands from her seat and makes to head out the door, fingernails buried firmly within her palms. Some sleep should resolve this terrible inner conflict… Yes, all I need is a bit of sleep.

"Such beauty. Pity you work for this foul place."
The voice echoes from the darkest reaches of the church. The unknown assailant watches from the shadows, eying the pretty nun with, what he feels, is too much time on her hands.
"You sit there light candles and pray for what? That the monsters stay away? I can tell you this, not every monster in this world comes from the veil. Not every monster is non-Human. Some... Haha. Some just have different reasons for seeing the world burn."
The man emerges, wearing black cargo pants, black hoodie and a white featureless mask to hide his face.
"Some have had the world ripped from them. The loves they have experienced killed for not fitting the status quo. Take your beloved Shadow for instance. He killed everyone I loved. Was that God's mission? You kill and kill. What makes you any different. I've seen the beasts who walk on that side. Their goal. The blood soaked tearing of the veil is beautiful. Much better than any plan your God could have come up with."
The Twisted Ninja slowly approaches, his featureless mask peering at Megan.
"You would be better served on our side. Forget the Kindred, they're hopeless fools. Hell, one of their agents was so easily broken it was quite sad. And think, a human made a vampire cry. They're no different from you or I."
As the candles illuminate the ninja more, the logo on his mask appears.
"That's right. I work for the Order of the Eye. They brought me in when I was broken, and saw potential. See, I can go where they can't. Like here, for instance. No burning. No struggle. Hell, some of the priests couldn't even tell I was there until it was too late. So face it now, lady. You can't win. Not as long as human-clad monsters like me exist."

“If you think it foul, then why have you come?” She turns around to see the source of the offensive comment.
How long has he been there… A chill runs up Megan’s spine as her sky blue orbs trace the form of the enigmatic man whom reminded her more of a shadow than a person. She found his red orbs particularly unnerving, her arms crossing over her chest protectively and hands sliding into the sleeves of her habit. As he carries on the freckled angel’s pretty features pinch with distaste, “I pray that our endeavors to wipe the Non-Human plague off of the face the planet come to fruition and I do not care about what you have to say concerning Shadow… Who is not my beloved, the only true love I have is the love of my Lord and savior. Who’s the fool, me or you? I would never work with either of those factions; I refuse to work with those otherworldly demons! I work with the Inquisition and we do more than make vampire’s cry on a regular basis. They all need to die, including foul beasts like you that would forsake the Lord and your fellow man so that Lucifer himself might be released from his fiery cage to unleash chaos and horror, destroying all of God’s creations. No, I will not falter in my devotion to justice and God’s will. I will not defect to The Order of the Eye, I will die before committing such a blasphemous act! How dare you even think for a moment that such an event could occur in even the smallest of chances!”
Her hands dance aptly within the confines of her clothing, forming the necessary signs to active her Quen spell and shield her from his attacks, “I’ll ask nicely, once, for you to leave this place of God… I do not wish to commit an abominable act such as murder in this holy place… But know this; if my hand is forced I will smite you with the Lord’s fury and I will not mourn your passing. Good will always prevail.”
With a stern expression on her face Bloom addresses the ninja again, “I may be young, but I know my spells well, they can take down a Non-human and they can definitely take you down.”

"No wonder you and Shadow get along so well. You're just as quick to mindlessly jump to violence as he is. You can quit with your spell casting, witch. I have no interest in fighting you here. You say you don't love Shadow, but I'm sure when I hold his head high in my vengeance, you will be begging to join him."
Akechi slowly stalks the hall of the church. Looking at the banners, the altar.
"Isn't it in God's word that you're not to cast magic spells. And you say that I'm blasphemous?! Such hypocrisy coming from the mouth of a child of God. Murdering non-Human's has also been my task when necessary. Does that mean I can play here too? I mean, if God's mission is the eradication of all non-Human's than when I do kill Kindred puppets, I am fulfilling his wish than, right? You say do more than make vampires cry, but you use spells like any other witch in existence, giving yourself an advantage."
Mitsunari walks right up into Megan's face, his cold soulless mask covered face just barely touching Bloom's nose.
"I don't use such wicked means to do what I do. Just me, some silver and my own clan to cause fear. That is something no mere witch like you can do."

Bloom smiles calmly, her facial features remaining the picture of peace, and takes a step back from the obtrusive stranger. On the other hand, on the inside she is panicking and watching for Akechi to make a move to attack, poised to deflect any assault he may throw at her, “I would be displeased to see any agent for good’s remains desecrated and I would most certainly be hard pressed to resist the urge to behead you myself after seeing such an abhorrent display of disrespect for my close friend. However, I would most definitely not beg for death myself, Shadow would not wish such a thing nor would God.”
She spins on her heels, turning her back on Death and wandering up to the alter again. She stares into the dancing flames with a placid expression on her face and her hands still tucked into the sleeves of her habit, “If you’re trying to insight some blind rage within me, it won’t work. Also, I am not quick to jump to violence, you threatened me, and so I reacted and gave you warning. You may call me a witch or a sinner, but God will be the only one to judge me and that judgment will be met when I evacuate this shell. I honestly doubt that you have any right to speak in relation to my wrong doings, I can only imagine how many innocent lives someone like you has taken… And that’s the difference between The Order and The Inquisition, we do not take innocent lives, only killing the Non-human infestation so that we might secure the safety of the human race. If you’re not here for a fight, why have you come?"
A derisive smirk pulls at the corners of her mouth despite herself, “Have you come to make confession?”

"Innocent is a very subjective word, my dear Bloom. What makes one innocent?"
Death walks up to the grouping of candles beside Megan. He folds his hands behind his back.
"Does working for the Inquisition make one innocent of crimes? When me and Shadow were young we were good friends until I found he had murdered my wife."
Akechi takes one of the candle sticks, lights it and lights one of the candles for his wife's memory.
"Killing for the sake of money. That is what innocent is, right? What makes vampires like Kain Knightlord, turned against his will, killing his brother due to being unaware of what he is. His religious family abandoning him for this, instead of looking to help. To me, he seems innocent compared to one of your own. I find your twisted sense of justice and innocence disturbing. You justify a man's actions of murder as justified, but another's wouldn't be. This is why The Inquisition will not stand. It is corrupt. A lie. And soldiers like you delusional to your own selfish desire."
Mitsunari turns and walks away.
"Tell me, which act of indiscriminate murder is innocent?"

“An innocent is someone pure, morally unblemished and without evil intent,” she watches him light one the candles with a raised brow, wondering if he is doing it out of ritual or amusement. He seems to have a certain air of sadness about him, but I can’t allow myself to feel sympathy for such a foul beast. I can only imagine the kinds of things he does for The Order of the Eye, a den of demons, would my Lord have me cut down this blasphemous being? It doesn’t feel like the right time… But he’s found me so easily, perhaps I should reach out to Shadow and tell him of our meeting once this beast has left.
“I never said I was without fault or fallacy, though I believe with all of my soul that my actions against the Non-humans are just and befitting of the will of God. I don’t kill for money, I kill to preserve the human race. If this ‘Kain’ truly recognized the demon he’s become he would dispatch himself immediately, least he spread the disease further. And if he had been my brother I would have done him one better and driven a stake right into his heart upon discovering him a vampire, to save him the horror of committing another murder… after another and another.”
The freckled angel follows after the retreating ninja, lightly gripping him around the wrist, “I-I’m sorry,” she pulls her hand back, hands slipping into the sleeves of her habit and fingers entangling nervously behind the fabric, “I have to know… He… He murdered your wife? Why?”

"Murder for the sake of "preserving" a certain race is no different than the mass murder done by men like Hitler or Stalin. You justify your reasoning out of a misplaced sense of self-worth! You're pride is built upon sand."
As Akechi walks away, he listens to her speech. He laughs as she justifies murder.
"Such disgusting attributes to a woman so beautiful. Has your order so blinded you, so brainwashed you that you can not see the truth behind what they say?! You justify innocence as "pure and morally unblemished" and yet you sit here, in a church, working for an order that is not pure or morally unblemished. Evil intent is a matter of opinion because what I hear is no more evil than the monsters you wish to eradicate with extreme prejudice. You close your eyes to the truth you wish never existed. You make me sick, you Inquisition Dog! I have seen Kain while I was here, and heard his wish for death. But what about those friends he has made, who try to help him curb his murderous impulse? Trying to save him from his own beast. Yet you'd murder him without a second thought. You see, you're no different from me."
Death stops, and raises his masked face to the look at the roof of the church and view it's stained glass.
"We are both monsters. No more worthy of His grace than any other non-Human. You want to know why Shadow murdered my wife? It's simple. He wanted money. He'd kill you just as quick if the right price was offered. So tell me, which is "pure" to you? A man who would murder a friend's wife for money or a monster who is only wishing to understand who he is?"

Despite her usually unwavering patience and calm, Bloom's face suddenly becomes flushed and she finds her words spilling out of her mouth in a flurry of emotion, “How dare you compare the Inquisition to Hilter! Our endeavor is nothing like his no matter what ‘similarities’ you present! Our fight is for the preservation of mankind as a whole, Non-human’s cannot be compared to the life of a human being; they are demons! The Devil has come to this plane and you expect me, an agent of God, to stand idly by and let them bring about the end of existence as we know it? You will not falter my convictions foul beast! Are you not exactly what you distaste about Shadow? Have you not become the exact thing you despise most in this world? What is it you do for The Order of The Eye? Do you not kill indiscriminately for money on their behalf? I do not accept compensation for the work that I do, my path is spiritual and pure! WHAT WOULD YOUR WIFE HAVE TO SAY ABOUT WHAT YOU DO? YOU ABOMINABLE CREATURE!!”
The Nun's hands fall free from the sleeves of her habit, she turns away from Akechi, and her fists clench so hard she can feel her nails cutting into the flesh of her palms. Tears begin welling up in her eyes, threatening to spill over her thick lashes. The Inquisition member doesn’t want to believe his last comment, but something in her gut tells her that the ninja is telling the truth about Shadow. How can the world be filled with such despicable human beings, how can I possibly trust him now that this sinful man has brought these truths about Shadow to light… “What do you want?”
Megan whirls back around to face him, her expression serious and her blue eyes unwavering, “Why are you here other than to destroy what faith I had in my partner?”

A slow but sure laughter erupts from the masked ninja. The man called Death by the Order of the Eye laughs at her justification of the Inquisition.
"Hitler also fought for the preservation of what he deemed to be the "true" race, much like you fight for your race. But here you are, calling a fellow human being a monster. I may be, but as I watch you weave spells I can tell you that you are just as in-human as you deem the vampires. What normal human being can weave spells and cast magic? How does my wife feel about my actions? Vindicated. We fought for your God as well. We were just like your, but one man felt differently and butchered her. Shadow took the money and forever destined me to hatred. You want to twist the will of my wife to try and stop me? I take no money from the Order. I do as I see fit, and when they need me, they call. It is all that simple. A true ninja has no need for money."
He turns to her as she falters in her faith in Hattori. A grin comes across his face under his mask as he approaches the shaken woman. He softly caresses her cheek as he stares at her through his mask.
"What I want is for your order to fall. To stop interfering in this worlds fate. I have watched as humanity has crumbled under the weight of greed and religion and it sickens me. The world as it is right now can not be allowed to breath further. I am here to break your will. To stir distrust with truth. I can see that you know what I have said about Shadow is true, and it sickens you as well. To know a man you trusted could so cold-heartedly kill you without hesitation. The truth is not so unbelievable is it?"

Megan growls under her breath, smacking his hand away and staring at him in such a way that if looks could kill he would be consumed by righteous flames and burned like the abhorrent sinner he is. The Sister takes a step back, moving out of arms reach of the masked man and sliding her hands back into her sleeves, “You can continue to compare me to Hitler all you like, but my people and I are nothing like him; the people we target truly are monsters guilty of heinous crimes where as the victims of the Holocaust were guilty of only being different. Hitler created imaginary miss doings to reinforce his insane beliefs that the people Vampires and Shifters kill humans for food and Demon Possessed not only steal people's very bodies from them, but kill indiscriminately for the sake of amusement. For example, the fellow Kain, whom killed his brother…. Though he may not have meant for that murder to happen or any murder that may have followed after that one, he is guilty of them due to the evil that has tainted him with a relentless thirst for blood, and the only way to cleanse that taint is by freeing the human soul from the demon corruption… Unfortunately there are few ways to save a human turned abomination. Only Demon possessions have the possibility of being exorcised of the infection, the rest have only been freed through death. It is unfortunate, but it is the truth, and you will not waver my devotion to The Inquisition by trying to convince me of the miss doings of my people. There is no shame in doing The Lord's work.”
Her slender digits peek out from behind the blue fabric of her habit and ensnare the dangling crucifix slung around her neck, working the smooth surface of the precious stone round and round with her thumb against the pads of her fingers. Her sky blue orbs divert their gaze from the ninja and stare into the jade beads of her family heirloom, “And those abilities are gifts from The Lord to assist in completing His work. He came to me in a dream as a child like the warm sun on my face and told me that I would serve a great purpose. He said He made me special so that I would be capable of withstanding the trails he had in store for me; so that I can protect the world from evil… Like you and your order.”
She turns her back on Death, knowing she is opening herself to attack, but trusting the strength of her spell to deflect any sudden assault, “And you make have rocked my trust in Shadow a bit, but perhaps you are wrong about him? Or maybe you’re right. For now I’m not going to let you’re venomous words poison me against him. I may need to have a talk with my fellow Inquisition member and friend, perhaps that discussion will end with our partnership coming to a close… But it won’t shake my resolve in my ultimate mission. What neither of you know is that I would sacrifice EVERYTHING, anyone INCLUDING Shadow, to bring an end to the occupancy of the Non-humans.”

"Gifts from God? Don't fool yourself. I've read your Holy book, trying to find solace for my grief. And never did I see that you were to kill indiscriminately. I remember reading about unconditional love. So while you kill, you violate your own God's law!"
Death follows Bloom, showing no interest in attacking as he is well aware she has cast a spell. Just has to wait, see when or if she'd let her guard down.
"I see you as no different from monsters like Stalin or Hitler. Mass murderers, masquerading as heroes for their masses. I hear what you say, but you change Hitler to Inquisition, and it makes no difference. You're both two sides to the same coin."
Akechi stands besides Meghan, looking at stained glass murals.
"You think Shadow will tell you what he did? You fail to understand what "shinobi" means. We are masters of deception. Liars by trade. And how would my quote, "venomous", words not have effect if after speaking with Shadow your partnership wouldn't come to an end? You're a fool to think he'd be honest with you. A friend, betraying your trust. A man God put into your life. You're no so callous as to believe you would not be rattled. You see, love is a very dangerous toy. One may not always be aware of such feelings, but they are there just simmering beneath the service. Now I challenge you. Lie to me. Lie and say that you don't care deeply for my dear friend Shadow. Lie in God's House!"
Death opens his arms and takes a few steps back, peering through his mask at the Inquisition Beauty.
